Powers Resource Center Launches Research Study Looking at Virtual Team Effectiveness

PRC is Seeking Local Businesses to Participate in Online Survey

Boulder, Colo., March 8, 2016 – Powers Resource Center, a Boulder-based employee engagement, talent development and leadership training company, has announced a new research initiative aimed at discovering the factors that make virtual teams effective and the challenges that they face.

Fueled by rising costs, growing globalization and technological advances, the use of virtual teams has increased 800% in the last 5 years. These far flung teams are relied upon to achieve significant business results, despite the fact that there is no formal research data available to understand how effectively virtual teams operate.

“Companies continue to make significant investments in virtual teams. We want to provide some guidance for these companies so that their teams are successful and can do what they were designed to do – contribute to the bottom line,” said Tara Powers, CEO of Powers Resource Center. “We are so excited to launch this study. I am confident that this could be ground breaking research.”

Powers Research Center is looking for businesses of all sizes and from all industries across the U.S. to participate in the survey. For the purposes of the survey, participants must use virtual teams, as defined as a group of individuals who interact through interdependent tasks guided by a common goal and who work across time, space, and organizational boundaries with their work supported by communication technologies.

The ten-minute, anonymous online survey includes questions on effectiveness of communication, accountability, use of technology, and engagement and it should be distributed to three groups in participating organizations — virtual team members, virtual team leaders and executives who supervise virtual teams.

Businesses who participate will receive a detailed summary of the results and an exclusive invitation to a webinar that will provide additional insight into the survey results. The results will be analyzed by industry, revenue and company size and all participants’ anonymity will be maintained.
